Teaching the world to be kind, one child at a time!

Hi! I'm Celia Bailey, and this is my Girl Scout Gold Award Project focusing on kindness and inclusion at Discovery Elementary School.

About Me!

I began my Girl Scout journey in Kindergarten as a Daisy at Jamestown Elementary in Arlington, VA.

Now I am a Girl Scout Ambassador, as well as a Student Ambassador for the Class of 2027 at Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in Bethesda, MD. In addition to my involvement with Scouts, I am a swimmer, tap dancer, and soccer player.

Why this project is important to me!

In elementary school, I was shy, but I would have appreciated a spot and space to reach out to others.

The Buddy Bench encourages kids to be aware of kids like me who are looking to connect. Encouraging kindness when kids are young provides them with a strong foundation to lean into kindness when their lives are more complicated and it is easier to be self-centered than to consider others. Hopefully, they will remember how being kind made them feel better as well as made the world a friendlier place.
